Mock Trial - Prepping for AKC ACT Trials

  • The Agility Facility 380 New London Road Salem, CT, 06420 United States (map)

A preparatory event for our upcoming ACT1 trials.

We will start with an open discussion of how a trial runs:

  • When to know it is your turn (“run order”)

  • Getting connected with your dog before your run

  • Leaving reinforcement outside the ring (where and how)

  • When to go in the ring

  • Collecting your dog and leaving the ring together

  • What to do after your run

Then we will have a “general briefing” followed by the “judge’s briefing”, similar to a trial.

Common trial distractions of a judge, 'GO' button, timers etc will be used. You may also choose to “train in the ring” with toys or non-crumbly food, but remember these are not permitted in an actual trial.

No indoor crating – dogs must be worked out of your car during COVID times. To assist with communication while you are outside of the building, the Remind app will be used to mass update competitors with the goings on in the building.

The course and equipment used will be similar to an ACT1 level course.
We will review how to fill out your entry form (“premium”) for our ACT trials.

Limit 12 teams. $40 per team.
